The Regional Scottish Hotel Awards
a celebration of Scotland’s excellence in tourism and hospitality
It seems that 2017 is off to a flying start already for Scottish tourism.
The Rough Guides annual rankings of the very best holiday destinations have listed Scotland as the second most desirable place to visit in 2017, while VisitScotland, the nation’s tourist board, has also published a report that shows hospitality industry employment is at an all time high. Indeed, tourism is more than a holiday experience for visitors; it offers valuable employment, sustains rural communities, and is at the heart of the Scottish economy.
Now in its 14th year, the Scottish Hotel Awards scheme was established to celebrate this incredible industry and help lead visitors to the nation’s very best hotels. This thorough annual assessment, during which each participating hotel is visited twice, highlights both the most outstanding places to stay and also those exceptional hospitality professionals who make each visit one that will never be forgotten.
Victor Clavell, vice president (Hong Kong) at the Ritz Carlton Hotel Company, believes that: ‘ The most important qualities employees can possess are passion, talent and drive.’
True to this belief, the Scottish Hotel Awards research judges have the vital role of not only assessing the overall guest experience, but also seeking out the unsung heroes of the industry – behind the scenes as well as front of house – and observing their dedication, care and commitment. Those hotel staff members who go the extra mile will be nominated as People of Excellence and be in with a chance of winning one of our National People Awards .
Here, we feature a handful of the award winners from across the regions. We will be publishing a special feature on the national award winner on May 11. The crème de la crème of the hospitality industry in Scotland. Watch this space!
