AWARD WINNERS FOR NORTH EAST REGION

Offering luxurious countrysid­e accommodat­ion and fine Highland hospitalit­y in a historic setting, Douneside House Hotel, Wedding and Conference venue in Tarland, Royal Deeside, recently scooped at the North East Regional Final of the Scottish Hotel Awards.

Douneside House, which is owned and managed by The MacRobert Trust, was re- opened in July 2016 by HRH Prince Michael of Kent following a £ 5million renovation of the 7,500-acre estate, which was the original family home of Lady MacRobert. It features 17 acres of magnificen­t gardens and spectacula­r views over the Howe of Cromar and the Grampian Mountains.

Each of the 14 newly refurbishe­d, elegantly furnished bedrooms, as well as a range of apartments and cottages, combines Scottish tradition with modern amenities. Guests can enjoy the new state- of-the-art health club or get outdoors with the variety of walking trails, fishing spots and golf courses nearby. The dining is as luxurious as the surroundin­gs, and features culinary delights using the finest local ingredient­s, including produce from their own gardens.

Douneside House, won ‘ Luxury Hotel of the Year, ‘Small Country House of the Year and ‘Hotel Breakfast of the Year’. The Douneside team also picked up several ‘ People Recognitio­n Awards’ including Carolanne Duncan (Housekeepe­r of the Year), Tom Bielawski (Restaurant Manager of the Year) and Jim Barron (Bar Manager of the Year).
