Doune­side House, which is owned and man­aged by The MacRobert Trust, was re- opened in July 2016 by HRH Prince Michael of Kent fol­low­ing a £ 5mil­lion ren­o­va­tion of the 7,500-acre es­tate, which was the orig­i­nal fam­ily home of Lady MacRobert. It fea­tures 17 acres of mag­nif­i­cent gar­dens and spec­tac­u­lar views over the Howe of Cro­mar and the Grampian Moun­tains.

Each of the 14 newly re­fur­bished, el­e­gantly fur­nished bed­rooms, as well as a range of apart­ments and cot­tages, com­bines Scot­tish tra­di­tion with modern ameni­ties. Guests can en­joy the new state- of-the-art health club or get outdoors with the va­ri­ety of walk­ing trails, fish­ing spots and golf cour­ses nearby. The din­ing is as lux­u­ri­ous as the sur­round­ings, and fea­tures culi­nary de­lights us­ing the finest lo­cal in­gre­di­ents, in­clud­ing pro­duce from their own gar­dens.

Doune­side House, won ‘ Lux­ury Ho­tel of the Year, ‘Small Coun­try House of the Year and ‘Ho­tel Break­fast of the Year’. The Doune­side team also picked up sev­eral ‘ Peo­ple Recog­ni­tion Awards’ in­clud­ing Carolanne Duncan (House­keeper of the Year), Tom Bielawski (Restau­rant Man­ager of the Year) and Jim Bar­ron (Bar Man­ager of the Year).
