MALLAIG Pool and Leisure Club said goodbye to its old, time-served gym equipment yesterday (February 8) and to make way for new TechnoGym items.

The gym is scheduled to be closed until Monday February 20 while the new equipment is installed and the gym gets a make- over, but it is hoped it will reqopen sooner if everything goes well. Updates will be posted on the centre’s Facebook and Twitter pages throughout February. Anyone wishing to participate in this year’s Road to the Isles half marathon on Saturday April 29 should book their place on the Road to the Isles Facebook page or Mallaig Leisure Centre’s website. All proceeds from entry fees will go towards refurbishing the centre.

A total of £423.50 was raised towards the refurbishment over January, with £ 353.50 coming from the Cub Post and £70 collected in the donation pot at the centre’s reception desk. Centre staff thank everyone who contributed.
