Lochaber actor in college play

-

A FORMER Lochaber High School pupil is gearing up for the biggest public performance of his acting career.

Kelvin Reece Jones will appear in the City of Glasgow College’s production of John Godber and Jane Thornton’s classic comedy Bouncers and Shakers.

Kelvin, 19, who is studying for an HNC in acting and performance at the college, explained: ‘The play is about the Glasgow club scene. I play various roles which represent the different types of people you meet on a night out. There aren’t many props or costumes so we have to really show who we are through our body language. I’ve never done anything like this before so rehearsals have been really interesting.

‘I’ve also had to learn different accents, which has been quite challenging.’

Kelvin honed his acting skills by performing in shows at Lochaber High School and performed at the Edinburgh International Fringe Festival in 2012 but his performance in Bouncers and Shakers at Scottish Youth Theatre in Glasgow’s Merchant City will mark his biggest public performance to date.

Kelvin continued: ‘I’m feeling both excited and nervous about performing in the show. Rehearsing for it has given me the acting bug again. It will be the first time I’ve performed in front of a large audience since I was at school.’

Kelvin’s interest in acting came from going to shows at Eden Court in Inverness with his family and he fell in love with the profession after performing in plays at school. Bouncers and Shakers will be performed at Glasgow’s Scottish Youth Theatre from Tuesday to Thursday, March 14 to 16.
