School Sport Awards handed out
SIX PRIMARY schools from Oban, Lorn and the Isles received a School Sport Award last week.
The School Sport Award is a sportscotland programme which is used as a benchmarking tool for schools to assess progress in key areas such as school sport, links to community clubs, competition and celebrating sport. Councillor Roddy McCuish and Active Schools Co- ordinator Gillian Walker pre- sented the plaques, commending schools for their tremendous enthusiasm for physical education, physical activity and sport (PEPAS).
Many schools across Argyll and Bute are committed to developing PEPAS and it is important they are recognised for their hard work.
Fantastic initiatives like the sportscotland School Sport Award highlight the commitment schools are making to encourage and support children and young people to live an active life.
The award also encourages parental involvement, promoting a whole school approach to being active and everyone can see the impact and benefits in each of these schools who have really embraced the award scheme.
