Lochaber pupils enjoy fun-filled weekend in London
LOCHABER High School pupils experienced the sights and sounds of London on their annual prefects trip.
Forty-four sixth-year students spent the first weekend in March in the UK capital when they enjoyed museum visits, a sightseeing tour of central London, the hit theatre musical Dreamgirls and indoor karting.
Other highlights included the chance to see Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, Arsenal’s Emirates stadium, Madame Tussauds and the London Dungeon, a photo- call at the gates of Buckingham Palace and a flight on the London Eye.
The group had meals out at Carluccio’s, the Hard Rock café and other West End restaurants, and enjoyed shopping in Oxford Street before travelling back to Fort William.
Head teacher Jim Sutherland said: ‘The aim of the trip was to reward prefects who have contributed much to the school during their six years with us. It helps the young people gain confidence in a city environment before leaving home and, of course, to have fun.
‘This was the eleventh trip to London. Over the years, we have taken around 800 sixth years to the capital. It is a great experience.’
