Trust completes Skye path work
THE JOHN Muir Trust has finished repairing the path from Sligachan to Loch Coruisk at Druim Hain on Skye.
Specialist contractors Arran Footpath Partnership have completed 415ms of path construction and 970 square metres of landscaping. This included moving turf to encourage plants to grow back where they have been eroded away as people walk the route.
Since 2014, the trust has spent £210,000 on path repair work on Skye.
Glenelg-based contractor and project leader Donald MacKenzie said: ‘ The path line is now less intrusive and the newly- constructed footpath will keep walkers on the same line, allowing vegetation to recover over the next few years.’
