SLEAT Community Council members met on Tuesday February 7 at Ardvasar Hallon. Among the items discussed were:

Skye hospital re- design: Rob Ware asked that someone from the community council convene a meeting of community councils from the south end and Lochalsh/South West Ross so NHS Highland can meet residents to give an update on the project. Rob will write to NHS management to suggest a meeting is arranged. Flora Maclean and Veana Cleland will take this up.

The Commission for Parliament­ary Reform: A new commission has been establishe­d by the Scottish Parliament’s Presiding Officer to look at how parlia- ment works and what improvemen­ts could be made. As a result of Professor Robertson being asked to become a member of the commission, there was be a public meeting held on March 9.

Brexit: Roddy Murray read out a letter from Kate Forbes MSP about Brexit. This is principall­y about Scotland’s position in Europe following the 2016 Referendum. William Swann, board member of Highlands and Islands Enterprise, gave a view of the agency’s stance on Brexit.

This was followed by a general discussion on a number of aspects of the current status on the EU. Roddy Murray will write back to Kate Forbes stating the community’s view.
