Taynuilt

-

AN EXCELLENT turnout of 30 Taynuilt Primary School pupils and 26 adults recently picked up litter around the village.

The annual event was organised earlier than usual as everyone was keen to give the village a tidy up before the spring holiday fortnight.

The organisers thank all the volunteers who gave up their time to improve the look of the village. All proceeds from the event will go towards the P6/ P7 primary school trip to Lochgoilhead. TAYNUILT Primary School pupils have been raising money for Mary’s Meals.

Sixty children each received a mug which the charity uses to provide meals in and rattled them at friends and family for six weeks, asking for small change.

As part of the fundraising, the children laid coins along the pavement on Main Street from the phone box to Graham’s Grocers and back again. This event alone raised £209.

An impressive final total of almost £1,100 was raised and Mary’s Meals was presented with a cheque at the primary school. LORN Organic Growers still has raised beds available to rent in its polytunnels at Barguillean for growing vegetables this season.
