Sewing machines needed to help deliver new project

-

A LOCHABER group is appealing for sewing machines to help deliver a new project to young adults.

Studio 2 on Fort William High Street plans to run basic sewing workshops for people who can’t sew.

Times have yet to be confirmed, but the group hopes to run the two- hour classes for four weeks.

Bronwyn Strachan from Studio 2 told the Lochaber Times: ‘You don’t hear of too many young people sewing these days but you know what it’s like when you want to put on a pair of jeans but the zip is broken. If the jeans haven’t cost that much, you might throw them out but if you can fix them it gives the jeans a new lease of life.’

To help the project go ahead, Studio 2 is looking for sewing machines.

Bronwyn added: ‘People may have sewing machines sitting gathering dust and if they are happy to donate them to Studio 2 that would be great. If they are willing to let us use their machine during the project we would really appreciate that as well. Two people have already done this.’
