IN DIVISION one last season’s champion Steven Crook recently retained his title when he recorded a 3- 0 win over closest rival Monte Bleasdale. But Steven was made to work hard for his win as his narrow 11-9, 12-10, 11-9 victory suggests.

Monte secured the runners-up spot after a 3- 0 victory over the ever-improving Fiona Clarke, who gave John Grant a real scare as she took a 2- 0 lead in their recent match, only for John to fight back as he took the next three games in his 12-14, 10-12, 11- 4, 11-7, 11-7 win. John also recorded a 3- 0 win over Angus MacDonald but again was made to fight hard as he won 11-9, 14-12, 11- 6.

In division two, Aileen MacFazdean recorded two comfortable straight set wins over Joe Robson and now leads the division on games won over Stuart Steele, who also had an easy victory over namesake John which took him level on points at the top of division.

John, however, did record a 3- 0 victory when he proved too strong for Neil Cameron, who on the night could not replicate his fine form of late. John’s win moving him up to joint third place with Joe Robson.
