Motorcycli­st in fatal crash named

A MOTORCYCLI­ST who died following an accident on the A82 near Invergarry has been named.

Ewan Smith, 48, from Renfrew, sustained fatal injuries when his bike collided with a bus at Laggan Locks on Wednesday April 12, Police Scotland confirmed.

Neither the bus driver nor the passengers suffered any significan­t injuries in the accident, which happened at around 1pm.

A spokeswoma­n for Scottish Citylink confirmed its vehicle had been operating from Inverness to Fort William.

She said: ‘Our first thoughts and deepest condolence­s are with the family of the person involved.

‘ We are assisting police with their inquiries into the circumstan­ces of the incident.’

The road was closed for more than four hours after the incident, with north- bound traffic being diverted at Spean Bridge.

Police Scotland said inquiries into the full circumstan­ces surroundin­g this incident are ongoing and anyone who can assist with the investigat­ion is asked to call 101.
