Mo­tor­cy­clist in fa­tal crash named

A MO­TOR­CY­CLIST who died fol­low­ing an ac­ci­dent on the A82 near In­ver­garry has been named.

Ewan Smith, 48, from Ren­frew, sus­tained fa­tal in­juries when his bike col­lided with a bus at Lag­gan Locks on Wed­nes­day April 12, Po­lice Scot­land con­firmed.

Nei­ther the bus driver nor the pas­sen­gers suf­fered any sig­nif­i­cant in­juries in the ac­ci­dent, which hap­pened at around 1pm.

A spokes­woman for Scot­tish Citylink con­firmed its ve­hi­cle had been op­er­at­ing from In­ver­ness to Fort Wil­liam.

She said: ‘Our first thoughts and deep­est con­do­lences are with the fam­ily of the per­son in­volved.

‘ We are as­sist­ing po­lice with their in­quiries into the cir­cum­stances of the in­ci­dent.’

The road was closed for more than four hours af­ter the in­ci­dent, with north- bound traf­fic be­ing di­verted at Spean Bridge.

Po­lice Scot­land said in­quiries into the full cir­cum­stances sur­round­ing this in­ci­dent are on­go­ing and any­one who can as­sist with the in­ves­ti­ga­tion is asked to call 101.
