Volunteers tidy up Glen Coe

-

BUSINESSES near Glencoe joined forces to help keep the glen ‘great’.

The Clachaig Inn and Clachaig Holidays teamed up with Glencoe Independent Hostel and Strath Lodge for a pre-season litter pick.

Gordon Keppie from the Clachaig Inn told the Lochaber Times the team increasingly recognises the need to minimise the impact of the business on the environment and to operate in a sustainable manner wherever possible.

On Tuesday April 11 staff from the businesses gave up their own time and gathered at 8am to tackle the stretch between the A82 junction and the bridge into the village.

Gordon said: ' We do the litter pick every year. There were no unusual finds this time, apart from a strange doll. In previous years we have found motorcycles and cookers. Mostly it is general rubbish people drop on their way from the campsite to us or to the shop and glasses from the bar – even though we will swap glasses for disposable cups. We wish people didn't drop things at their feet and be more considerate but we feel we have to make an effort as well to keep the area looking great for all the people coming to the area for the first time and those we wish to attract back.'
