Elaine Robertson Independent, ward five
It has been my privilege and pleasure to represent Oban North and Lorn for the past 14 years.
Over the past five years, I have been vice- chairperson of the Oban Lorn and Isles Area Committee.
During that time I have been able to influence decision-making and progress projects, both within the town and, very importantly, within the outlying rural communities.
I am not ‘political’. My background is 30 years as an occupational therapist, working for the council and covering this area. I see my role as a councillor as similar in many respects. It is all about helping individuals and community groups to achieve their aims, by working with them, along with my council colleagues and with outside bodies.
I am acutely conscious of the ever-increasing financial restraints on the council, which will make the coming term even more difficult than in the past.
I can only hope that, if the people of ward five are good enough to trust me once more, I will be able to use my experience and (hopefully) common sense, to support the needs and aspirations of the town and country communities that I wish to serve.
