Whopping £1,000 up for grabs in draw

-

A STAR prize of £1,000 is up for grabs in a bumper charity prize draw being organised by Oban RNLI fundraising group.

An army of volunteers has been enlisted to help sell as many tickets as possible to make the most of the fantastic cash prize, which has been kindly donated by John MacAlister (Oban) Ltd.

All proceeds from the sale of the £1 tickets will go towards saving lives at sea.

Mike Robertson, chairman of the fundraising committee, said: ‘ We are extremely fortunate to get such great support from businesses and individuals in Oban when we are on the lookout for prizes for our fundraising events.

‘But we couldn’t believe it when Peigi Robertson, one of our long-serving fundraisers, told us that when she had spoken to John MacAlister about the possibility of providing a prize he said he would donate £1,000.

‘This is the biggest prize we have ever had and we can’t thank Mr MacAlister enough for his generosity. The onus is now on us to sell lots of prize draw tickets.

‘Oban’s all-weather Trent class lifeboat Mora Edith MacDonald is one of the busiest in the RNLI’s fleet and covers a vast area of the West Coast, so we are hoping that as many people as possible will support this good cause, while giving themselves a chance of winning £1,000.

‘ We have a host of other fabulous prizes which have been donated too, including a second prize of dinner for two, courtesy of the Manor House, Oban, and third prize of champagne afternoon tea for two, kindly donated by the Airds Hotel, at Port Appin.’

To give the fundraisers plenty of time to raise as much as possible from this great opportunity the draw date has been set for September 16. Tickets are available now from all fundraising committee members, Oban Lifeboat Station and from various other outlets around the town, including The Iona Shop, Munro’s garage and Reflections hairdressers.
