Roddy McCuish

Independent, ward four

-

Standing as an Independent candidate, I firmly believe that there is no room for national politics at local level.

With 10 years’ experience representing our area, most recently as chairman of the area committee, I have shown that I am able to work with all political parties to find local solutions to local problems.

Stronger community involvement in council decisions is a priority for me, ensuring that views from all parts of the ward are heard.

I will lobby both Scottish and UK governments for a rural growth deal. This is especially important for our fragile island communities.

I will continue to work with everyone, irrespective of their politics, for the benefit of our area.

I will push for closer working between councillors and frontline staff, as often they have the solutions to points you may raise and help me respond quicker.

I will continue to hold my surgeries every month, as I have done since 2007.

I will propose that the new area committee will continue with open surgeries, allowing everyone to come along and engage with all eight elected members face to face.

No other area in Argyll and Bute has done this. It should always be people before politics.
