Former po­lice­man on trial

FORMER po­lice­man Thomas Al­lan Kir­sop is due to go on trial to­day (Thurs­day) for two charges of driv­ing with­out due care and attention.

Kir­sop ap­peared at Fort Wil­liam Sher­iff on Tues­day April 25 where Sher­iff Wil­liam Tay­lor or­dered a part trial to be set for to­day (April 27).

The 76-year- old will be tried for driv­ing slowly and swerv­ing onto the op­po­site side of the road, caus­ing the ve­hi­cle be­hind to drive at slow speed and stop­ping the driver from over­tak­ing on March 24 and March 29, 2017, on the A82 at North Bal­lachul­ish.

Kir­sop will also be sen­tenced for a third sim­i­lar driv­ing of­fence and two breaches of bail con­di­tions re­lat­ing to his on­go­ing trial for stalk­ing, which he pleaded guilty to on Tues­day.

Kir­sop’s bail was con­tin­ued un­til to­day.
