Highest of praise

-

LET’S give credit where it’s due.

The splendid staff at the registry office in Argyll and Bute went beyond what could reasonably be expected of them when approached by Rob Everitt, 36, and Rebecca Holdstock, 29, from Dartmoor, who wanted to be married on the top of Ben More – the highest mountain and only Munro on Mull.

Registrar Andrew Penny made the English couple’s day by donning his hiking boots and all-weather gear and climbing the ben to officiate at the ceremony.

In the end, because of the prevailing conditions, the small wedding party – which was augmented by Sarah and John from Mull to act as witnesses – couldn’t reach the summit but had got as high as a plateau 650m up, where the marriage was completed.

Andrew told us the registrars’ motto is ‘It’s your day so we do it your way’. They certainly lived up to it. Well done.
