Satur­day May 6

Bidean nam Bian/Peak of the Moun­tains (Munro 1,150m). Take the built path up Coire nan Lochan as far as a small crag at NN155553. Cross the burn and go W, then NW up a gen­tle slope of grass and rock to the sum­mit of Aonach Dubh, 892m. De­scend bare rock S to the col and con­tinue up the rocky N ridge of Stob Coire nan Lochan to its sum­mit, 1,115m. From here, take the south-west ridge to the col and climb to the sum­mit of Bidean nam Bian, 1,150m. De­scend SE to the col at the head of Coire Gab­hail, and de­scend NE to the val­ley floor. Exit fol­low­ing the path to the bridge over the River Coe just be­low the Meet­ing of Three Wa­ters. Con­tinue on the path back to the start. This walk cov­ers a dis­tance of 11km and a height of 1,200m but there are a few al­ter­na­tive start and de­scent op­tions de­pend­ing on weather and snow con­di­tions.

North Dal­lens to Ard­tur penin­sula. This is a beau­ti­ful cir­cu­lar walk fol­low­ing the old rail­way line along­side Loch Linnhe. Great views of the Isle of Shuna and Cas­tle Stalker. Pass­ing the Knap and cross­ing the Ju­bilee Bridge. Walk­ing on to Ard­tur for the views be­fore re­turn­ing to the cars and on to Cas­tle Stalker view café for lunch/re­fresh­ments. An easy-leisurely grade walk cov­er­ing 9.7km. Meet at 9.30am at Glen­coe Vil­lage car park. Bal­lachul­ish TIC at 9.35am, Longs­dale car park in Oban at 9.20am, Fort Wil­liam Woollen Mill at 9.10am or Spean Bridge Woollen Mill at 8.55am. Meall Cor­ranaich and Meall a’Choire Leith, Loch Tay. Two easy Mun­ros, rough or boggy in places at first, with the op­tion of con­tin­u­ing a pleas­ant ridge walk to Bridge of Bal­gie in Glen Lyon. Teashop at the post of­fice. A medium-plus grade walk cov­er­ing a dis­tance of 10km or 12km (choice of de­scent routes) and a height of 777m. Meet at Longs­dale car park, Oban at 8.20am or Glen­coe vil­lage car park at 8.30am. Trans­port re­quired. The walk leader is Andrew Gil­bert on 07808 924722.

Thurs­day May 11

Glen­cruit­ten Woods and Loch Nell, Oban. A cir­cu­lar walk from Oban through Glen­cruit­ten Woods and go­ing as far as the banks of lovely Loch Nell. This leisurely grade walk cov­ers a dis­tance of 11km and a height of 250m. Meet at Longs­dale car park, Oban, at 10am or North Bal­lachul­ish School at 9.10am.
