Cam­paign aims to pre­vent ac­ci­dents

FAM­I­LIES are be­ing en­cour­aged to come to­gether to help pre­vent un­nec­es­sary ac­ci­dents to ba­bies, tod­dlers and chil­dren un­der five, as RoSPA launches Fam­ily Safety Week 2017.

Ac­ci­dents are the big­gest killer of chil­dren and young peo­ple aged up to 19 in the UK, with at least one child un­der the age of five killed in an ac­ci­dent ev­ery week.

Dur­ing Fam­ily Safety Week, which runs from May 2-5, the safety char­ity is high­light­ing the fact these ac­ci­dents don’t have to hap­pen, by pro­vid­ing tips, ad­vice, sup­port and resources to help keep un­der-fives safe at home and on the move.

It will be en­cour­ag­ing par­ents and car­ers to down­load free posters cov­er­ing top tips for safer bed times, bath times, meal times, play times and travel, as well as ac­tiv­ity sheets in­clud­ing safety-themed word searches, spot the dif­fer­ence, colour­ing sheets and a poster com­pe­ti­tion.

RoSPA will also be host­ing a Face­book ses­sion in con­junc­tion with Net­mums to­day ( Thurs­day May 4) from 1.30-2pm.
