Tommy’s Tour heads for Western Isles

NA­TIONAL de­men­tia cam­paigner Tommy Whitelaw is launch­ing a tour of the Western Isles to raise aware­ness of the con­di­tion.

Tommy, who lives in Glas­gow, was a full-time carer for his late mother Joan who had been di­ag­nosed with vas­cu­lar de­men­tia. Through sup­port­ing his mother, he be­came a well­known na­tional cam­paigner.

Tommy’s Tour will take place on the fol­low­ing days:

Barra: Wed­nes­day May 31, 1.30pm-2.30pm at Cob­hair Bhar­raigh, Castle­bay.

Uists: Thurs­day June 1, Car­ers Morn­ing Tea, 10.3011.30am at Sa­cred Heart House, Dal­iburgh.

Harris: Thurs­day June 1, Staff and Car­ers Tea, 7- 8pm, Harris House, Tar­bert.

Lewis: Fri­day June 2, op­por­tu­nity to visit the Clisham Mem­ory Gar­den from 1pm-1.30pm at Western Isles Hospi­tal, Stornoway.

Ceilidh on the Ward from 1.30pm-2.30pm in Erisort Ward, Western Isles Hospi­tal, Stornoway.

Satur­day June 3, a Mem­ory March, hosted by Alzheimer Scot­land, will be held from 2pm at the Bridge Cen­tre, Stornoway.
