Al­lan is pres­i­dent at bowl­ing club

THE Fort Wil­liam Rail­way Bowl­ing Club has started the sea­son off with a new pres­i­dent.

Al­lan Mac­Don­ald, who has been in­volved with the club for the past five years, took on the role last weekend.

He told the Lochaber Times: ‘I was vice-pres­i­dent for the past two years. My main du­ties will be wel­com­ing peo­ple at the start of each weekend com­pe­ti­tion, an­nounc­ing which com­pe­ti­tions are be­ing played and do­ing the pre­sen­ta­tions af­ter­wards.’

Dur­ing the week Al­lan has his own taxi com­pany, which he bal­ances with his re­spon­si­bil­i­ties at the club. He said: ‘I have to take week­ends off, which is ob­vi­ously the busiest time for taxis, but I need to be at the club.’

Al­lan said he hopes to be pres­i­dent for the next two to three years, be­fore pass­ing it on to some­one else.

On Satur­day the club held its first com­pe­ti­tion of the sea­son.

Com­pe­ti­tions will be held ev­ery weekend un­til Oc­to­ber.
