Solicitor takes on daunting military challenge

-

A SOLICITOR in Oban will run 10 miles with a 16-kilogram backpack on to raise money for Oban High School after it helped his son.

Kevin McGinness will travel to Colchester on May 21 in order to take part in the run, which is organised by the army.

The 50-year- old said: ‘My son, David, went to Oban High School and it was a difficult cir- cumstance. He had to change school in his final year - he had to change from Dingwall to Oban half-way through.

‘Oban High School was absolutely amazing in teaching my son and providing him with an excellent education. They were very welcoming.

‘I am really grateful for what Oban High School did.’

The E Thornton and Co solicitor has been training for this event since the end of January.

He wants to raise the money so the school can purchase equipment and materials to benefit the pupils.

‘The school did so much for my boy,’ he added. ‘So I wanted to do something by a way of thanks.

‘They were so supportive. It was a difficult situation. They had to accommodate what he was doing, with what they could offer.’

Anyone who would like to donate can do so by searching E Thornton and Co on social media and following the link.
