Loch Arkaig

-

A LOVESICK Lochaber osprey has had a change of luck, with not one but three females now vying for his attention.

Louis, who nests in the Loch Arkaig forest, had been nicknamed Lonesome Louis by Woodland Trust Scotland staff after he was spotted looking forlornly for his mate.

Louis arrived back from Africa on April 10 and staff feared the worst for the bird until last Friday when a female turned up and they have been paired up ever since. What is more, according to George Anderson, a further two females have tried to muscle in on the action, but Louis is sticking with his original choice.

Mr Anderson said: ‘ We are now confident there will be eggs hatched in June. We had all but given up hope for him finding a mate so this is fantastic news.’
