Teacher retires on his birthday

-

STAFF and pupils from St Columba's Primary School near Fort William said an emotional goodbye to a teacher retiring after 16 years’ service.

Andy Sturrock has worked with the school since it was called Lochyside Primary. He and his colleagues made the transition to the new Caol Campus last year but he stepped down from his post on his birthday, Friday May 12

A school spokesperson said: ‘Mr Sturrock has been a valued member of staff for almost 16 years, specialising in many subjects includ- ing science, technology, art, computing and PE. Mr Sturrock has had overall responsibility for our school website and has always been an excellent support to pupils and staff in many aspects of school life.

‘ We thank Mr Sturrock for his exceptional support and commitment to the school over the years and wish him every happiness in his retirement. He will be very much missed by us all. He was presented with gifts and had a lovely farewell meal at Corrour Station with staff on Friday evening.’
