Donald Black prepares to launch album
Having enjoyed listening to Donald Black’s latest album extensively over the past few weeks, I am greatly looking forward to attending its launch on tonight (Thursday) in the College of Piping on Otago Street.
Such is the vastness of the CD’s musical line-up, it would be logistically impossible to have all the contributors performing. Donald, however, will take to the stage with his trusty band of Martainn Skene on piano and accordion and Donnie MacKenzie on acoustic guitar - along with a small selection of guests from the album.
As I have written in this column previously, Bho m’ Chridhe is an outstanding piece of work. The only thing missing from it is Donald’s impeccable stage patter - and I dare say that will be very much in evidence on Thursday.
