Gar­den project needs vol­un­teers

KIL­MALLIE Com­mu­nity Cen­tre (KCC) is look­ing for vol­un­teers to help bring the vil­lage gar­dens back to life.

The group will be meet­ing on Satur­day (May 20) at 10am.

The gar­dens were opened by Princess Anne on Oc­to­ber 14, 1999, but fell into dis­re­pair.

Re­cently the Com­mu­nity Ser­vices Team has re­paired the bridge, painted the seats, fence and pic­nic benches and cut down the over­grown ar­eas.

KCC has been awarded £1,860.57 from Foun­da­tion Scot­land’s Ex­press Grants, in par­tic­u­lar the Forbes Fund, £250 from Vol­un­teer­ing Mat­ters Ac­tion Earth Grant and £100 from Scot­mid in vouch­ers for Semichem which were raf­fled off at the KCC cof­fee morn­ing on Satur­day April 22 and raised £90. The cash was split be­tween KCC and the gar­den project.
