Councillors should get on with the day job

The Oban Times - - LETTERS -

Sir, I am disappointed to note three recently- elected Argyll and Bute councillors – Alan Reid (Liberal Democrats), Aileen Morton (Liberal Democrats) and Gary Mulvaney (Conservative and Unionist) – have decided to stand as candidates in the general election on June 8.

While it is not unusual for council members to put themselves forward for parliamentary consideration, the timing here is suspect and shows a complete lack of regard for both the council and the electorate of Argyll and Bute.

I urge these councillors to serve their constituents and communities by getting on with the day job that they were elected to just two weeks ago. Councillor Julie McKenzie, Creag Bhan Village, Oban.
