Two wins out of two for Oban

OBAN Cricket Club made it two wins out of two at the start of the new sea­son when they de­feated Car­radale at Taynuilt last Sun­day.

In a match re­duced to 20 overs per side fol­low­ing ear­lier rain, Oban bat­ted first with Ja­hed Khan and Daniel Booker get­ting the home side off to a good start. Booker made 16 and Khan 23 and Tris­tan Carre con­tin­ued his good start to the sea­son by hit­ting 38. Mark Parry added more runs at the end of the in­nings, fin­ish­ing 28 not out as Oban posted 127 for 5 from their 20 overs.

In re­ply, Car­radale started slowly and soon fell well be­hind the re­quired run rate.

Oban’s bowlers gave lit­tle away with the pick of the bowling com­ing from Jack White­ley and Neill Belshaw, who bowled eight overs be­tween them for 21 runs. Car­radale even­tu­ally fin­ished their 20 overs on 64 for six, leav­ing Oban win­ners by 63 runs.

Oban’s next fix­ture is a tough home game against Glas­gow Ac­cies on Sun­day June 4.
