Outpouring of concern for girls

CONCERN, sympathy and prayers were offered on The Oban Times Facebook page from a wide cross-section of society to the news that Barra girls Laura MacIntyre and Eilidh MacLeod were missing following the Manchester suicide bombing atrocity.

Pat Trehan posted: ‘I cannot imagine the agony their families are feeling. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. They are our bairns, we stand by your side.’

Sine Murray wrote: ‘Thoughts are with their families and I hope they are found safe and well.’

Mystialeig­h Smith said: ‘I hope these young kids are safe and get home safely. It’s a shame that young kids and adults can’t even go to a concert without getting hurt. my heart goes out to all those still missing.’

Essa Macfadyene wished: ‘Hope they are found safe and well, our thoughts go out to both sets of parents, what a worry, from one Island to the other.’

Rona Grant offered: ‘ Hope they are found safe and well, our grandson was there and is safe and well and on his way home. Our hearts go out to the people who had devastatin­g news. The world is getting a terrible place shame on the coward.’

Isobel Mackechnie said: ‘I hope the girls are just misplaced my heart goes out to you all thinking of you all.’

Alison Kerr echoed: ‘ Hope they are found safe devestatin­g time for the parents.’

Linda Lindsay said: ‘I can’t imagine how their families are coping. As you say keep praying.’

Jean Roberts posted: ‘Come on girls, your parents will be waiting for a hug, let’s get you home to them.’

Ciaran Steaksauce Smith posted: ‘Love and support xx hope there well soon.’

Danni Hay added: ‘Thinking of their families. It’s every parents worst nightmare.’

There were also comments on social media after the news broke that Laura had been found and was being treated in hospital in Manchester for her injuries.

Colleen Mead wrote: ‘Glad for this news. Continued prayers her recovery and finding Eilidh safe.’

Liz Macneil said: ‘Glad one of the girls has been found let’s hope they find the other girl soon.’

Sandra Morisetti posted: ‘Thank God waiting to hear about Eilidh.’

Kirsty Mccuaig said simply: ‘i am keeping them both in mind.’
