Inverlochy win schools netball competition

-

HAVING won this year’s Fort William primary schools netball league, St Columba’s, continued on good form at the annual netball tournament.

The team was narrowly beaten in the final by Inverlochy Primary, who were in impressive shape.

Group stages

Seven primary schools from Lochaber entered teams, with Bun- Sgoil Ghaidhlig Loch Abar, Caol, Inverlochy and St Columba’s making it through the group stages.

Bridget Thomas, Active Schools co- ordinator, said: ‘The players produced some great netball in the semi-finals and finals, with scorelines which were nail-bitingly close.

‘The inter-schools netball competitions are organised as part of the Active Schools programme but would not be possible without considerable help.

‘Hugh thanks to the pupils from Lochaber High School who did a great job umpiring, timing and score-keeping, to Fort William Falcons netball club and to the teachers, school staff and parents who support and coach the primary school teams through the year.’
