Anger at closure of Oban Ladbrokes shop
MEMBERS of the betting public have informed The Oban
Times that a branch of Ladbrokes on Oban’s Stevenson Street is to close.
The company was unavailable for comment at the time of going to press.
A person, who did not wish to be named, said: ‘I and every other customer I’ve spoken to are outraged that this shop is closing and instead it [ Ladbrokes] is keeping the small shop open.
‘But we’re more annoyed at the way the staff in the bigger shop are being cast off without a second thought. The staff in question are the reason many of us still go to Ladbrokes.
‘They’re hard working, extremely helpful and nice people who make you feel welcome and have a great craic with regulars.
‘When this shop closes and the staff leave, myself and many customers will also leave.
‘I will definitely be sad on July 18 as the doors shut for the final time.’
