Totally hooked

DONNIE Maroot recently popped into the Park Bar for a midweek pint and was amazed at how busy it was.

He asked Joe, the barman, why the bar was so mobbed in the middle of the week. Joe responded: ‘Have you not heard that Captain Hook is performing at the Kelvingrove Bandstand?’

This answer confused Donnie for a moment until an old dear at the bar next to him gave him a nudge and explained in a discrete whisper that it was 1970s country-rock band, Doctor Hook, and not JM Barrie’s fictional character, Captain Hook, who were due to play at the bandstand.
