A WOMEN’S tap dance class gave their first performanc­e to rapturous applause after only 20 lessons.

The five women attend an adult tap dance class on Tuesday evenings in the guide hall and the event at Atlantis was the first opportunit­y to perform in front of the public.

The class were invited, along with some of dance teacher Sarah Blacklaw’s other classes, to take part in the Atlantis Summer Dance Show.

Nicola Wilson, one of the pupils, explained: ‘These ladies have only had about 20 lessons, but put on a very profession­al show.

‘They put their heart and soul into their “Fireball” routine and received a fabulous reception.

‘It was great to have this opportunit­y to showcase our hard work after learning the routine. We have much fun at our classes, helped by our very enthusiast­ic teacher.’

Blacklaw Dance Company offer children’s ballet and hip hop classes in the Guide Hall on Saturdays, running through the school holidays.

A ‘dancercise’ class will be starting in Soroba Community Centre from Monday July 3 6.30pm-7.30pm.
