Hats and high heels at Duart Cas­tle

MULL and Tiree Fed­er­a­tion will be join­ing in the cel­e­bra­tions to mark the cen­te­nary of the Scot­tish Women’s In­sti­tutes (SWI) with a gar­den party at Duart Cas­tle (by kind per­mis­sion of Sir Lach­lan Ma­clean).

Through­out 2017, a range of events and gath­er­ings are be­ing held to mark the or­gan­i­sa­tion’s 100th birth­day, in­clud­ing the SWI’s own ver­sion of Tea in The Park – tea par­ties which will take place in each fed­er­a­tion area on Sun­day July 2.

The or­gan­i­sa­tion was formed in 1917 to bring women to­gether, with a vi­sion to wel­come ev­ery woman in Scot­land. The or­gan­i­sa­tion has re­mained a con­stant in Scot­tish life ever since and is here to ed­u­cate, to share, to cam­paign, to learn, to so­cialise, to build a com­mu­nity and, of course, to have fun. The cen­te­nary is a great chance to re­mind peo­ple what the SWI is about and what it has to of­fer mod­ern women liv­ing in 21st cen­tury Scot­land.
