Rugby club of­fers break­fast and lots of team spirit

OBAN Lorne Rugby Foot­ball Club is look­ing for play­ers to join its suc­cess­ful teams.

To tempt you, they are call­ing on peo­ple to visit the club and en­joy a full Scot­tish break­fast while watch­ing the game on the big screen, over the next two week­ends.

The team that fin­ished sec­ond from the top in the West Di­vi­sion 1 league are look­ing for se­nior play­ers for its male and fe­male teams, and boys and girls for its ju­nior teams.

While pre-sea­son train­ing got un­der way on Tues­day there is still space for a few more play­ers.

Oban Lorne 1st XV are look­ing for­ward to their third con­sec­u­tive sea­son in West Di­vi­sion 1 un­der the guid­ance of head coach Cor­rie Louw.

Due to league ex­pan­sion the team will see 22 league fix­tures this sea­son mean­ing the squad will need to be well pre­pared for the sea­son ahead.

Oban Lorne’s 2nd XV and women’s fix­tures are yet to be an­nounced by their re­spec­tive leagues.

Pre-sea­son train­ing is open to all play­ers, and be­gin­ners are more than wel­come.

Times and venues will be con­firmed on the club’s Face­book page and web­site.

Oban Lorne RFC will be host­ing a Bri­tish and Ir­ish Lions Break­fast for the three up­com­ing test matches with the All Blacks on Satur­days July 1 and 8.

The test matches will be shown live on the club’s big screen with a full break­fast be­ing served from 8am. Cost per per­son is £ 8.50 with pro­ceeds go­ing to club funds.

All mem­bers and non-mem­bers are wel­come to come along.

Af­ter the sum­mer hol­i­days mini rugby train­ing will be back on ev­ery Wed­nes­day evening apart from dur­ing school hol­i­days.

Team man­ager Dar­rell Wil­liams said: ‘Rugby is all about be­ing part of a team. Join­ing the team is good for get­ting fit, play­ing team games and of course we have a great so­cial life here at Oban Lorne RFC.
