The team that finished second from the top in the West Division 1 league are looking for senior players for its male and female teams, and boys and girls for its junior teams.

While pre-season training got under way on Tuesday there is still space for a few more players.

Oban Lorne 1st XV are looking forward to their third consecutive season in West Division 1 under the guidance of head coach Corrie Louw.

Due to league expansion the team will see 22 league fixtures this season meaning the squad will need to be well prepared for the season ahead.

Pre-season training is open to all players, and beginners are more than welcome.

Times and venues will be confirmed on the club’s Facebook page and website.

Oban Lorne RFC will be hosting a British and Irish Lions Breakfast for the three upcoming test matches with the All Blacks on Saturdays July 1 and 8.

The test matches will be shown live on the club’s big screen with a full breakfast being served from 8am. Cost per person is £ 8.50 with proceeds going to club funds.

All members and non-members are welcome to come along.

After the summer holidays mini rugby training will be back on every Wednesday evening apart from during school holidays.

Team manager Darrell Williams said: ‘Rugby is all about being part of a team. Joining the team is good for getting fit, playing team games and of course we have a great social life here at Oban Lorne RFC.

‘Anyone who wants to join or wants to know about joining the teams should contact one of the team members. Visit the website obanlorne.co.uk, find them on Facebook or speak to a club member at the next home game.’
