Musician told to pipe down due to court case

-

CALUM MARTIN went the extra mile after police ordered him to stop piping a bride into her wedding ceremony because it was disturbing an Oban Sheriff Court case across the road.

Calum, a 29-year- old joiner from Gairlochhead, was keen Helen and Donald Finnie should not lose out on their wedding day, so piped the newly-married couple down the street from Oban Registration Offices to Argyll Square last Wednesday.

He said: ‘There is only one chance for the bride to have her big day and be piped in,’ he said: ‘She is the most important person. It is always traditional the bride and groom get piped in and piped back out.’

At the end, when the court case was finished, Calum piped the new Mr and Mrs Finnie through the streets of Oban to make up for lost tunes. ‘The couple were more than happy,’ he said: ‘They loved it.’
