Call to save Mull machair

VOLUNTEERS at Mull’s Calgary Bay need help to protect its unique machair and are raising money to protect the fragile ecosystem.

A successful fundraising page set up to raise money to help visitors understand the fragile and unique nature of the land has bought fencing and worked with the landowner – but the group still has ambitions to raise more.

Jan Brown, of the Friends of Calgary Bay committee said: ‘All avenues of funding have been explored and crowdfunding is the only quick way to raise the money for the fencing. Please help us bring the machair back to life by donating on the JustGiving page found on Facebook, Friends of Calgary Bay page, and Twitter.’
