Heron Valley hit the road for summer of song and festivals

-

A young Argyll band has been tipped for the top after the release of their debut album.

Folk band, Heron Valley, recently released their debut album, ROAM, to great acclaim and to mark the official launch of the album, the band is embarking on a summer-long tour throughout Scotland.

The band, who formed while they were still at school, recently trekked up Beinn an Lochain, Rest and Be Thankful, at 4am to film their latest music video for their single,

Home – complete with all instruments, including a piano.

Alex Mackechnie, fiddle player with Heron Valley, said: ‘ We’ve had a fantastic year, playing at some great venues and this summer we are really looking forward to our album launch tour which will see us play at festivals from Benbecula to Tiree and Oban to Italy.

‘The response to our music so far has been great and this summer tour is our first major tour, and with 21 dates, we are certainly being kept busy!

‘Most of the band is from Argyll so we are delighted to be playing several festivals in the region, including Markie Dans, ButeFest and Mull of Kintyre Music Festival. We’ve got some exciting opportunities coming up, including tours in the US and throughout Europe and we’re looking forward to bringing our sound to new audiences!’

Daniel Gillespie, managing director of Oban Live and Tiree Music Festival, and founding member of Celtic rock band Skerryvore, said: ‘I can still clearly remember the first time I heard Heron Valley as they supported Skerryvore in the Three Villages Hall in Arrochar as a local group of school kids.

‘Even then, I remember being blown away by their energy and technical ability.

‘From that point, I have watched them develop into the most promising act on the scene and this album is confirmation of that.

‘They have a focus and maturity that is way beyond their years and that matched with their natural ability makes them a band with a very big future. They were a huge hit at TMF last year so we are delighted to welcome them back for TMF2017.’
