Two new dra­mas for BBC Alba

MG ALBA has been au­di­tion­ing for two new dra­mas aimed at chil­dren and young peo­ple.

So­lus Pro­duc­tions held au­di­tions in Skye, Ben­bec­ula, Glas­gow and Stornoway last week for two young male ac­tors to take part in a drama- doc­u­men­tary se­ries Small Hands 2, pro­duced by LOOKSFilms. The se­ries will fea­ture sto­ries based on let­ters and di­aries from the Sec­ond World War, in­ter­laced with doc­u­men­tary and ar­chive for trans­mis­sion on BBC ALBA in 2018/19.

Sor­bier Pro­duc­tions has also been busy au­di­tion­ing for a lead young fe­male ac­tor and young male sup­port­ing lead ac­tor for a chil­dren’s drama which is part of an in­ter­na­tional project op­er­ated through the Euro­pean Broad­cast­ing Union.

The Gaelic film will be seen across Europe and be­yond and in ex­change chil­dren’s films from across Europe will be avail­able for trans­mis­sion on BBC ALBA in 2018. Mar­garet Cameron of BBC ALBA said: ‘To have two short drama pro­duc­tions with op­por­tu­ni­ties for young Gaelic ac­tors is a fan­tas­tic piece of news.
