LOCHABER High School third year pupils recently completed a one- day emergency first-aid at work course with Emergency Action Training.

The pupils are now equipped with the skills and knowledge to provide lifesaving first aid.

Supported by Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) West Highland, 24 pupils were involved in the course aimed at developing skills for the world of work.

Commenting on the day, an Emergency Action Training spokesperson said: ‘Developing the Young Workforce is an excellent programme and it has been a pleasure to have been able to work alongside DYW West Highland to deliver first-aid training to Lochaber High School students.

‘Every one of them worked hard and deserved their certificates. Lochaber High School is a wonderful learning environment and for them to look at giving students the opportunity to gain life skills before entering the workforce should be commended.

‘If every secondary school allowed their students to take a first-aid course it would create a country of lifesavers in a short time.’
