Summer exhibition – Liz Myhill
Lime Tree An Ealdhain Gallery, Fort William
This summer, the Lime Tree Gallery is pleased to announce their latest exhibition, showcasing the work of Liz Myhill, opened on July 1. Liz Myhill is a Scottish artist whose work spans a wide range of subject matter, gathered through working directly in the outdoors in the countryside.
With her roots in the Scottish Hebrides, those islands and other wild places of Scotland continue to fascinate and provide a wealth of inspiration. Although often an end in themselves, these field works are also developed into paintings and printmaking. This exhibition will showcase a wide range of her work, including painting, linocut prints and collagraph prints.
Liz says: ‘I work across a range of media including watercolour, mixed media and traditional printmaking techniques producing original artwork and short editions of hand-pulled prints.
‘Much of my inspiration lies with the natural world, dramatic Hebridean landscapes and the island way of life. The act of walking, watching and recording, whether fleeting or through lengthy study, allow me to gain a connection and sense of place.’
Liz exhibits her work throughout the UK, regularly showing with societies such as the Royal Scottish Academy, Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour and Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts.
She has received a number of awards including the RGI David Cargill Award and prestigious Elizabeth Greenshield Foundation grant.
The Lime Tree An Ealdhain Gallery in Fort William is the venue for the show, which runs for the month of July 2017. This state- of-the-art gallery, attached to the Lime Tree Hotel, is owned by resident artist David Wilson, who has designed an extensive space which regularly shows travelling national exhibitions as well as the work of Scottish artists.
The gallery is open 10am to 10pm, seven days a week and admission is free.
