Cash boost for roller skaters

A £500 donation to Lochaber Artistic Roller Skating Club will help the group get its skaters to competitions.

The Fort William skaters received the donation from Liberty British Aluminium.

Frieda Alexander, from the club, said: ‘ We would like to thank Liberty for its kind donation which will go towards the cost of travelling to competitions. The donation came as a total shock to us, but was extremely kind.’

Brian King, managing director of Lochaber operations for Liberty British Aluminium and sister energy and resources company SIMEC, said: ‘ We’re really impressed with the work of Lochaber Artistic Roller Skating Club and the benefits it brings to a large number of local young people and adults so it’s a great pleasure to help the club with the cost of travelling to competitions around the country where they can represent the area and do us proud.’
