We asked last week for people to nominate what they think is the most beautiful part of Oban.

Kevin Keen posted: ‘I like the view from the road at the top of Jacobs Ladder, looks over the distillery, the pier then over Kerrera etc. Always good place for a sunset too.’

Roy Summers said: ‘ The view from Eaderglynn at top of Bealach an Righ across Oban Bay. Although I don’t think the yellow building improves it!!’

Maggie Archer wrote: ‘For me it is The Tower over looking the shore. Parsley, a Maine Coon Cat ( very famous in Oban) wears a tracker when out and about. His mama takes pictures and posts them on his FB page. You should find him and post a picture. He hangs out at The Balmoral and he loves The Tower and the local pubs. I am serious he’s famous all over the world.’

John Muir suggested: ‘Oban itself..l worked on the oilrigs for 27yrs..in my 2 weeks leave..l spent a lot of time going up to Oban from Ardrishaig..just love the place..great shops..friendly natives..the Ducati family ...the late Wulliie Kerr.. John Stoddard..Kevin Burnett..just the memories of years gone by..but Obans the best town on this side of the Mississippi.’

Danni Hay offered: ‘ The view from the pier straight out past Dunollie castle and the maiden Isle. Not condemned buildings or council monstrosities.’

Carine Baker posted: ‘Looking across the bay to Kerrera and beyond to the majestic and beyond it to Mull. Especially in winter with its snow capped peaks.’ Siobhán Ni Rachtuir said: ‘view from mccaigs tower had to be included.’ Murdo MacKenzie wrote: ‘Looking up to Soroba.’ Allan Strang Jnr posted: ‘ The view to Mull and Morvern with Kerrera and Lismore below. Certainly not any of your pics above surely!

Dougie Weston quipped: ‘One of ma refurbed bathrooms in the Royal.’
