Blood service concerns

HIGHLANDS and Islands MSP Donald Cameron has raised concerns over proposals to stop blood collection services in Stornoway.

Following a review on rural service provision, the Scottish National Blood Tranfusion Service will no longer make visits to Stornoway or Campbeltown due to logistical issues and will reduce the number of visits to Lochgilphead from twice a year to once a year.

The MSP has written to the shadow cabinet secretary Shona Robison to seek assurances that the Scottish Government is giving its full support to the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service.
