Ambulance in collision with motorbike on A82

AN AMBULANCE carrying a casualty from a crash on the A82 collided with a motorbike on the same road on Sunday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to a serious crash involving an ambulance and a motorcycle at 3.25pm.

The ambulance had earlier attended a crash on the A82 at Invergarry when a Mercedes Sprinter minibus went off the road at 1.25pm. One female passenger was airlifted to hospital with back injuries. A male casualty was taken by the ambulance, which later crashed. As a result of the collision, the biker was taken to Raigmore Hospital with serious injuries.

The road was closed for investigat­ions and was reopened at 8.35pm.

A police spokespers­on said: ‘Officers are particular­ly keen to trace the driver of a small blue Fiat who may have been travelling south towards Invermoris­ton but anyone who witnessed the collision and who has not spoken to police should contact us on 101 quoting reference number NE-9893-17 or Crimestopp­ers on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous.’
