A GRANT of £1.9 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund will regenerate Rothesay town centre.

The Isle of the Bute town’s seafront will now benefit from almost £ 3 million of repairs and improvemen­ts, with Argyll and Bute Council having already com mitted £200,000 to the scheme and £ 500,000 being secured from Historic Environmen­t Scotland to be invested in the town, around Victoria and Montague Streets.

This next phase of the scheme will be delivered between now and October 2022.

The focus of the scheme will be to repair five priority buildings and traditiona­l windows, and restore eight shopfronts.

It will also deliver heritage and maintenanc­e and growing and supporting a creative industry activity, skills and capacity building programmes.

There will also be improvemen­ts made to town centre wayfinding signs and connectivi­ty.
