A GRANT of £1.9 mil­lion from the Her­itage Lot­tery Fund will re­gen­er­ate Rothe­say town cen­tre.

The Isle of the Bute town’s seafront will now ben­e­fit from al­most £ 3 mil­lion of re­pairs and im­prove­ments, with Ar­gyll and Bute Coun­cil hav­ing al­ready com mit­ted £200,000 to the scheme and £ 500,000 be­ing se­cured from His­toric En­vi­ron­ment Scot­land to be in­vested in the town, around Vic­to­ria and Mon­tague Streets.

This next phase of the scheme will be de­liv­ered be­tween now and Oc­to­ber 2022.

The fo­cus of the scheme will be to re­pair five pri­or­ity build­ings and tra­di­tional win­dows, and re­store eight shopfronts.

It will also de­liver her­itage and main­te­nance and grow­ing and sup­port­ing a cre­ative in­dus­try ac­tiv­ity, skills and ca­pac­ity build­ing pro­grammes.

There will also be im­prove­ments made to town cen­tre wayfind­ing signs and con­nec­tiv­ity.
