Don’t miss this year’s Great Oban Raft Race

-

I SPOKE too soon about the weather last week, sorry!

I’m just keeping my fingers and toes crossed for The Great Oban Raft Race on Saturday, writes Oban town ambassador Kay MacDonald.

It is always such good fun to watch and the effort put into the rafts and the costumes impresses me every year.

Don’t forget there’s still time to enter if you haven’t already, even on the day of the race itself which starts about 2pm.

Good luck to everyone taking part and thank you in advance for the laugh I always have watching (I’m not laughing at you, I’m laughing with you, honest).

If rugby is more your thing, then have a wander up to Oban Lorne Rugby Club on Saturday for the Tower 10s.

Ladies can try rugby from 10am to noon with the first match at 11.30am and a disco in the evening from 7.30pm. The bar will be open and food will be available so it sounds like a very full day.

If you’re looking for something to do in the evening, then it’s the Argyll Ceilidh Trail Finale in Skipinnish Ceilidh House which will be a fantastic evening, as well as all the other great music in the pubs around the town.

We also have a household name playing in the Corran Halls next week when John Bishop brings his Wingin’ It show to Oban on Thursday August 10.

So much to do and so little time!

Hopefully, most of you noticed that last week’s photo was on the corner of Stevenson Street as you turn in from George Street. It’s been there so long, I’ve been oblivious to it for years.

This week’s photo is slightly further afield but it is a lovely wee walk.
