Athletics success for Oban High School pupils

-

THIS summer two Oban High School pupils have produced outstanding performances in track and field athletics. Finbar Dunne and Grace Thompson, both S5 pupils, represented Scotland and Oban High School at the schools’ international in Dublin in July. Both pupils were taking part in discus and achieved personal best throws.

Shortly after returning from Dublin, Finbar was selected to represent Scotland at the Celtic games, again in Dublin, and returned this week with a bronze medal.

Due to his highly successful athletics season, he has now qualified for the UK School Games in Loughborough at the end of the month.

The School Games national finals is a four- day multi-sport event for the UK’s elite young athletes of school age.

The event seeks to create an inspirational and motivational setting that not only provides our elite young sports people with the opportunity to thrive and perform at the highest levels, but encourages more young people to take part and succeed in sport.
