THE WOMEN of Tarbert Golf Club braved high winds and heavy rain over the weekend of July 29 and 30 to participate in their club championship.

The winner of the 36-hole club championship, played over two days, was Seona Martin with a gross 174 over the 36 holes. Seona’s gross score of 88 on the Saturday was particularly impressive, given the wild and wet conditions.

Helen Samborek won the Handicap Cup, playing steadily over the 36 holes, with a spectacular pitch on the Sunday onto the 16th green, hitting the flag pole and landing in the hole for a par.

Sheena Ferguson came second in the championship, with Angela Vernel second in the handicap competition.
